The Types of Cosmetic Surgery

plastic surgery

Whether you are male or female, cosmetic surgery (also referred to as plastic surgery) offers a quick solution to a wide range of appearances. From obesity surgery through to liposuction or lap band surgery, cosmetic surgery for weight loss results is also becoming increasingly common in the UK.

Therefore, you can read up and research whichever procedure grabs your attention by first seeing which one suits you below from the most common. With that in mind, there are doctors and professionals across the UK that speak through websites dedicated to the subject.

Breast Augmentation

For many women, breast augmentation can make a huge difference to not only their appearance, but also their self-confidence. Breast augmentation (or a boob job as it's more commonly known) involves placing an artificial implant either under your boob, or under your chest muscle behind your boobs.

This is generally a safe operation, but it still worth checking the reputation of a prospective clinic as not all surgeons are created equal!

Breast Reduction

For some women, breast reduction can make a huge difference to their quality of life. Although it may be hard for small women to understand, breast reduction can allow more ample women to engage in many activities that were previously difficult for them.

The surgery involves removing excess fat and skin, then reshaping the boob so that it is smaller. The nipples are also repositioned, to provide a pleasing aesthetic finish.

Colon Cleansing

While many people are suspicious of colon cleansing, others can't speak its praise highly enough. Colon cleansing works on the principle that over time our bodies are unable to effectively expel all the waste product we produce.

Over time this waste matter can build up inside you, causing illness. By periodically flushing it out, you can help your body to continue operating at optimum health.

Face Lift

A rhytidectomy, or face lift, is an operation that lifts and tightens skin, tissue, and even muscle, to give a tighter, smoother appearance. A facelift is designed to reduce sagging skin and wrinkles, and thus give a more youthful appearance.

This operation can be performed either on the whole area, or else just on the brow, jaw, or neck. Done properly, the effects will last between 7 and ten years.

Liposuction

If you have excess fat, liposuction is one way to get rid of it. Liposuction is usually performed on the hips, but can also be done on the stomach, thighs, inside of the knees, the ankles, the upper arms, even the neck and back.

As long as you exercise and maintain a healthy diet, then there is no reason that the fat will return post surgery.

Male Infertility

There are many causes of male infertility, ranging from smoking and excessive alcohol through to stress and obesity. The good news is that many of these are conditions that can be modified, allowing the possibility of increasing your sperm count.

The first port of call if you suspect a problem is to talk to your doctor. They will complete tests and an examination to assess your sperm count and also attempt to pinpoint causes. Once that is complete, treatment can begin.

Penis Enlargement

Though not many men talk about it, penis enlargement is becoming more and more common. Penis enlargement is a serious issue, so medical advice should always be sought.

While many men attempt self-treatment, most methods available are either ineffective, dangerous or both. There are numerous pills and pumps available over the internet, but these are not recommended - far better to talk to your doctor and get professional help.

Stomach Stapling

If all you are severely obese (BMI 40+) stomach stapling may be the only way for you to lose weight. This is considered a surgery of last resort, however.

Stomach stapling, or Gastric Bypass Surgery, works by closing off an area of the gut, so that you feel full quicker, and thus eat less. So if you are significantly obese, or suffer from weight related illnesses such as diabetes or high blood pressure, you might want to discuss this with your doctor.

Tummy Tuck

An abdominoplasty, more commonly known as a tummy tuck, is an operation to improve the appearance of your stomach. Some people find that even after losing weight, they still have excess fat and skin in the abdominal area - a tummy tuck can help get rid of that.

This is not a substitute for weight control but rather a way of getting rid of loose skin and stretch marks after you've lost weight.
