According to Forbes writer Tarek Mohajer, the SEO trend today is getting back to basics. For him, an overload of information is confusing company managers, whereas they should be concentrating on the basics to maximize their efforts.
Here is what he believes are the core elements of a good SEO presence in 2020.
If your company is about to start and you haven’t already selected your website address, try to find one from expired domains. Some of them already have backlinks that lead to the name which will get you some visibility right from the start. By doing so, you will benefit from all the investments that the previous owners had put in the marketing of his company, online and offline.
Since we talked about backlinks in the previous point, let’s continue on that line. This part of the SEO process refers to the efforts on getting people to come to your site and creating greater notoriety so that Google and other search engines can bring you to their first search results pages. To do that, you’ll need to create backlinks on other high-authority sites.
Identifying your keywords is simple. You just have to ask yourself: If I was a client of mine, what words would I use to search for a product or service like mine? Large companies often use tools to find the most searched keywords in order to reach their target, but that can be quite hard for a smaller company as you won’t have the visibility necessary to compete against them. Better find the right words for your products/services which will augment your chances of being proposed by search engines when potential clients ask for them.
To do this, you need to use the information you gathered during your research on the previous point. Your homepage should be centered on your main keyword and the rest can incorporate the others you believe will be used to find your company. The more specialized your website will seem to be and the greater the chances that it will be found and proposed by the search robots.
SEO is a long-term strategy. You won’t jump to the first search result pages overnight. However, you should keep track of your progress by using tools like Ahrefs, Google Analytics, Google Search Console amongst others, in order to know if you are on the right track. Then, just keep working at it until you finally find yourself where you wanted to be: On page 1 of Google search results!
