When I was younger I heard about people with jobs that allowed them to travel for work. I was jealous of those people and the whole concept. So, naturally, I wanted one of those jobs for myself.
During the last years of school, we had lots of people coming in for career days to talk about their jobs. One of these people would come to show me my future.
Some people are lucky enough to know from an early stage exactly what they want to work with as a life profession. Most of us have no idea, though. As a young adult, the world is an oyster. It wasn’t until the end of my student-days that I figured out what I wanted to do for a living.
One day, during career days at school, a seemingly young man made his entrance before our class. He started asking us questions about what office hours are the best, what kind of clothing is required for certain kinds of jobs. He asked if it’s really necessary to work from an office. Then he proceeded to ask how we’d think it would feel to work from the beach or the pool deck, dressed in flip flops, shorts, and a raggedy t-shirt. I was stumped.
His story began in his mid 20’s. He started telling his story about how he had started at an entry position within the online gaming industry as a content writer for an affiliate company. He had no journalistic background, nor did he know very much about the gambling industry except for the little he’d learnt while betting on sports and playing online casino. He was clearly a bright person as he only a couple of years later had figured out how the affiliate industry worked and started his first very own casino affiliate website. One year later he’d made his first million and lived a life most of us only can dream about. He was now just over 30 years old and had already made his fortune.
A lot of jobs these days don’t require rigid office hours or offices from where to work. A lot of jobs are completely online. After learning about the affiliate business back in school, I decided that that’s what I wanted to do. After graduation, I applied for college to study programming. I wanted to learn more about the IT industry.
I received my diploma in computer science. As an educated programmer, I started offering my services as a freelance full-stack developer. Today, I’m living a comfortable life while travelling the world. As a full-stack developer, I could work in virtually every possible industry which is always a comforting advantage.
